Why Did I Let Him In? by Dave Barnes

Why did I let him in?
It was not the flowers.
Well, he has a way with me - maybe his lopsided grin.
But I think it is really his persuasion. He is uncannily persuasive.
He had his collar up round his ears for the rain.
He wore Elton John glasses for disguise.
He assured me implicitly that he had not been followed.
The CIA man let him go alone.
He said he came to say sorry.
His low voice was huskier than usual, and I fully believed him.
But when I thought again what he has done to the Lewinsky name,
Why Did I Let Him In?

I turned him out.

The Man of Your Dreams by Ingrid

The Man of Your Dreams

Nice and minimal and understated in a sea of white. I like it! Thanks Ingrid.

Through a Time Machine - by Gerda Pieterse

Through a Time Machine - by Gerda Pieterse

A view through very old glass. Very old glass fascinates me. When I was a child my father took me to the mill where van Rhijn lived, and the glass appeared to have run down, almost wanting to get back to its’ liquid form. Scientists say that that can’t happen, but who cares? The glass in Edinburgh Castle reminded me of that. Seeing a garden and people as if through a time machine” - Gerda Pieterse

Nielo Waits With Rose - by Nielo Wait

Neilo Waits With Rose

I have no idea why but this picture makes me think of someone who looks like a cheeky bastard with an unconformable spirit. I love it. Thanks Nielo.

A happy snappy accident

Never Pick the Flowers

Never Pick the Flowers

I’m going to pretend that I don’t remember where I found this. I’ve never been there and probably I’ll forget soon anyway. But recently I went just after sunset with some friends to pick flowers on private property. We only found one but it was beautiful. The others had gone to seed.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE - Call for Submissions

Man with Flowers is the theme for an exhibition. The theme is chosen for it’s unusual, awkward nature and mysteriousness. Why does the man have flowers? Who are they for? Where is he going? How does he feel? Why? There is potential to explore a wide range of emotions and life experiences and elegantly link them with the visual theme.

The show is curated by stuartbarnes.net and work will be selected for creativity. Selected work will be featured in a limited edition book and in an international exhibition. Details TBA.

Artist’s work will receive full credit but manwithflowers.com will assume unrestricted rights for exhibition and publication in all/ any media existing, imaginable or forthcoming.

The project will have wide exposure and is a great opportunity to launch/ enhance a career as an independent artist.

There is no restriction on media or format - painting, photography, poetry, illustration, drawing, video, film, sculpture, animation, music, sound, etc are welcome.

Email submissions to curator.
