The Garden of Earthly Delights

Here’s something from the central panel of The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. It’s said to depict an orgy of festivity. Apparently it’s a warning to the viewer to avoid a life of sinful pleasure. Left of centre is a panel showing something about the garden of eden. On the right wing are featured the seven deadly sins. Sitting on the fence in the centre looks like the most fun.

When I started painting way back, one of my first favourites was Van Gogh. Raw, powerful expression of emotion makes his work enduring for generations. He loved the Southern French countryside and delighted in the radiant heat and sunflowers.
