“I enjoy a sense of release and freedom when I am painting. A bit like a child running through a field, there are so many exciting things to discover, so many places to go and so many different ways to get there. The adult me tries to control and the child to escape. My work can be inspired by people or by places, how people move and interact or how a place can change. I begin with something I’ve observed or remembered and then take a journey to somewhere new, and I never quite know where that will be. For me that’s the excitement and the challenge of painting.”
